Lover's Bridge

Lover’s Bridge is also known as Marriage Bridge. Located at the Caohai District of East Southern part of Lugu Lake, Lover’s Bridge is the only bridge at Lugu Lake.

Due to the congested sands and soils at the bottom of the lake, the depth of the lake became shallow and suitable for the growth of reeds.

When you look from afar, you will find the lake is if a huge piece of grassland. Therefore, the district was named as Caohai, which means The Sea of Grass in English.

You may find two Lover’s Bridge now at Lugu Lake. In fact, one of them is the old Lover’s Bridge. As part of the bridge was destroyed, a new Lover’s Bridge was constructed to replace it.

The new Lover’s Bridge is about 300 meters long and built with wooden materials. The bridge is about 80 centimeters from the lake surface with wooden hand rails on both sides of the bridge.

The new Lover’s Lake is the entire longest handmade wooden bridge around hotel hokke club kyoto.
